Lady Antebellum are already in Los Angeles, getting ready for Sunday’s Grammy Awards, where they will perform, as well as most likely take the stage to pick up awards for any of the six categories in which they are nominated. But it’s their role as entertainers for the upcoming ceremony that has the trio battling nerves.
“We’re rehearsing,” vocalist Charles Kelley tells E! News. “They’re throwing us a few curve balls.” While the threesome won’t reveal exactly what to expect, they do hint the audience will be riveted to their seats. “We’re going to do a medley of a couple of our singles, and then we have a little surprise we don’t want to give away,” he hints.
“It’s really stripped down,” fellow lead singer Hillary Scott says, adding that part of the mystery might have nothing to do with their singing. “You should see my outfit!” she exclaims.
The group have skyrocketed to fame in the last few years, winning 18 major awards and scoring four No. 1 hits. But the humble band, who are currently enjoying their first headlining tour, say their celebrity status hasn’t changed them much — besides their appearance.
“My hair color changes every 6 months,” Hillary admits.
“Our jeans keep getting tighter every year,” Charles jokes.
Lady A will return to their home city of Nashville following the Grammy Awards, where they will take the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon for a special benefit for the W.O. Smith School of Music. Their tour, which includes opening act David Nail, will resume on March 10 in Tunica, Miss. See their concert schedule here.
The Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles at 8:00 PM ET on CBS.
